17: How to Use Behavioral Medicine to Change Your Pet's Behavior
Veterinarians, trainers, behavior specialists… Who should you take your pet to?
When your pet has a behavior that you want to change, the first person you think to take them to is usually some kind of trainer, right? However, there are actually a lot of different factors that contribute to your pet’s behavior, and health is a really important one.
In this episode, we are talking about using behavioral medicine to change your pet’s behavior.
As a veterinarian with a special interest in behavior, I spent a lot of time studying veterinary medicine and veterinary approaches to behavioral changes. Now that I work with pet behavior, I know that medicine can be an important part of any treatment plan, which is why I always look at the whole picture when I’m treating a pet.
I’m going to teach you why it’s so important to consider behavioral medicine when you are working on changing your pet’s behavior and how to find someone who gets it.
What We Cover in Today’s Episode
Why it’s important to see a veterinarian and not just a trainer
What veterinary medicine has to do with behavior

Your pet deserves to be treated as the individual they are. Health, history, and behavior are all things that make them who they are, so it’s important to look at all of them to get the big picture.
I hope this episode helps you get the treatment that you need for your pet.
