Do you know how to use reinforcement to train your pet?

You’ve probably heard of positive and negative reinforcement, but do you know how to use them effectively? Do you think you might be using them to reinforce the wrong behaviors without even realizing it?

In this episode, I am talking all about using reinforcement to get the behavior you want from your pet.

I am covering what reinforcement is and how it works along with everything you need to know to use it to change your pet’s behavior.

What We Cover in Today’s Episode

  • What reinforcement is

  • The difference between positive and negative reinforcement

  • Seeing reinforcement from a pet’s perspective and a handler’s perspective

  • How to be aware of how your pet’s behavior is affecting you

  • How to avoid inadvertently reinforcing a behavior that you don’t want

  • Getting started with reinforcement in your training

Don’t forget you have homework this week:

Think of a behavior that you would like to see your pet increase. Whenever you see them do it without any cues or commands, reward them!

Track this behavior over time so that you can see if it increases in frequency.

I want to hear from you after you spend some time doing this, so connect with me over on Instagram or contact me through my website!
